M12 GTC Sports Car

http://otomodif1.blogspot.com/Bos Automotive - M12 GTC - A close look at this sports car including performance, technical data, features, comparing rivals, history, used prices

from Classic to Modern

THE CAR

The M12 GTC sports car was one of three M12 variants introduced at the Birmingham Motor Show in 2002.

This groundbreaking model, priced at £45,000, was the first Noble sports to be offered in the form of a convertible, and was based on the M12 GTO-3.

In terms of marketing, the GTC was positioned in the under £50,000 sector so that it would be seen as a viable alternative to the higher-priced Porsche 911 Carrrera Cabriolet and Morgan Aero 8, whilst Lotus Elise convertible owners would be attracted to the higher performance on offer.

The car's roof section was reminiscent of the Porsche and Triumph TR Targa tops, and consisted of two detachable composite fibreglass panels which, when removed and stored behind the seats, left the rear section in place.

However, to achieve the full benefit of open top driving, the rear section could also be removed, although there was nowhere on the car for it to be fully stored away.

The acknowledged high build quality of Noble sports cars meant that the GTC was as draught-free as its coupe counterpart.

Another unique feature was that the car's rear section had been re-styled to create an area suitable for storing luggage, which could be accessed by way of the engine cover that could be raised hydraulically via a lever in the cabin.

A regular feature of many convertibles was that the chassis would require additional strengthening to allow for the increased stresses created by removing the roof section.

However, this was not necessary with the GTC owing to the rigid steel space frame chassis used in conjunction with the coupe variant.

Large 33cm AP Racing vented and drilled disc brakes all round were retained, as was power assisted steering.

The spacious cabin had leather trim as well as adjustable steering column and seats, the latter being fitted with anti-roll hoops.

It had a composite fibreglass body, 18 inch alloy wheels, and a kerb weight of 1080 kg.

THE ENGINE

The M12 GTC was powered by the same 3 litre, V6 engine as used in the M12 GTO-3 variant.

However, the only difference was that only one turbocharger was used, with a maximum boost of 0.6 bar, unlike the two fitted to the GTO-3.

Furthermore, as a result of the modifications to the car's rear section, the intercooler was now re-positioned.

This arrangement developed 290 bhp at 6000 rpm, and 290 ft/lbs of torque at 4750 rpm, the greater majority of which was available around 3000 rpm.

Linked to a six speed manual gearbox, it produced a top speed of 160 mph, with a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 secs, both of which were slightly slower than the GTO-3. Technical Data:

COMPETITION

Typical competition for the Noble M12 GTC included the following sports cars: Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, Morgan Aero 8, and Lotus Elise Sports Racer.

The Noble M600 Sports Car

http://otomodif1.blogspot.com/
Bos Automotive The Noble M600 - A close look at this sports car including performance, technical data, features, comparing rivals, history, used prices

from Classic to Modern

THE CAR

The Noble M600 sports car was launched at the Goodwood Revival Meeting in late 2009, and was the successor to the well-received M12, and the more aggressive M400.

It was offered as a two seater fixed head coupe, with a price tag of £200,000, and planned production of only 50 units a year.

The body consisted of a lightweight composite fibreglass construction attached to a steel space frame chassis, which produced a curb weight of 1250 kg.

ABS and traction control were offered as optional extras in order to maintain the weight-saving minimalist approach of the standard car.

Although it was popular, the M12 was fitted with a transverse engine which, as the power output of the twin turbo unit increased as a result of ongoing development, this created a number of problems related to insufficient cooling and gearbox reliability caused by ever-increasing stresses.

However, these problems were overcome in 2006 with the launch of the Noble M15 which was fitted with a longitudinally positioned engine, and this format was continued in the M600.

In terms of performance, the car was pitched in that market sector dominated by the likes of the Porsche Carrera, Ferrari Enzo, Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Gallardo and McLaren MP4/12C.

The M600 was designed and developed with the aim of ensuring that the driver, and not an array of electronic computer-controlled aids, was in complete control of this impressive sports car.

In 2013, a variant of the original M600 was introduced, and designated the Noble M600 Carbon Edition.

It was offered with what was, in fact, a "bare" carbon fibre body which contained a tinted translucence.

The new finish had taken much painstaking work to perfect, and the result was impressive.

THE ENGINE

The Noble M600 was powered by a Volvo 4.4 litre, mid-engined V8, originally developed by Yamaha, and linked to two Garrett turbochargers, fitted with a variable boost, which allowed the driver to choose, by way of a switch linked to the engine control unit, one of three levels of output:

The Road Mode with a pressure of 0.6 bar producing 450 bhp
The Track Mode with 0.8 bar producing 550 bhp
The Race Mode with 1.0 bar producing 650 bhp
In each case, the redline was 7000 rpm.

Fitted with a Graziano six speed manual gearbox, and a compression ratio of 9.5:1, it produced a top speed of 225 mph, a 0-60 mph time of 3.0 secs, and 0-100 mph in 6.5 secs. Technical data:

Replacing the Automobile Windshield

http://otomodif1.blogspot.com/2014/12/replacing-automobile-windshield.html
Bos AutomotiveReplacing the Automobile Windshield

Step 1: Get a replacement windshield for your vehicle

You can buy these new or get it from a wrecker's yard. And in this case, one should crack for chips and cracks well ahead, before handing over the money. In case you are looking to move the detached windscreen to your vehicle, blanket and duvet cushioning will be required, preventing any damage in pursuit.

If you are looking at second-hand, the windshield will not be ready to fit. The urethane band will either need to be removed or trimmed to about 1 mm in-depth using a razor blade or saw, to get trimming done.

Step 2: Remove plastic surroundings

Stop prying the clips that hold on to the windscreen. These are specifically designed for molding the vehicle. The process initially saves time, but it really needs not to be glued if you have the replacement chips on hand. Simple and aesthetic in value and attached to the windshield, they perform no other function apart from making it look good.

Step 3: Use a cold knife to cut the urethane between the glass and the pinch weld from the outside

Given that you have the appropriate tools and experience, this job can take about 15 minutes to about an hour. The urethane is usually pretty strong, allowing for the glass to move thus not developing a crack every time it pertains to a stress that it puts on while driving.

Step 4: Pinch weld preparation

Use a brush and plain water to clean away visible dirt. The trimming must be down to about 3mm thick. It's optimal to use a razor blade. Areas with rust or damaged urethane will require to be taken back to metal. The rust problems should be fixed and thereby areas of bare metal are to be primed.

Step 5

Now get the glass prepared to match the urethane adhesive. This opens the molecules to the frit band, thereby preparing the glass to accept the molecules of urethane.

Step 6: Use an electric caulking gun to apply the urethane

The new urethane has to adhere to the old one. This should be clean and free from any kind of contaminants. The blowing wind is another problem that throws in dust to the pinch weld before the adhesive can be applied.

Step 7: Place the windshield now.

Be sure you align the top bottom and sided to the windscreen by sight alone. Be sure not to touch the frit band, as the oils and dirt will contaminate the glass while reducing the effectiveness of the activator.

Top Signs Your Car Needs Auto Repair

http://otomodif1.blogspot.com/2014/12/top-signs-your-car-needs-auto-repair.html
Bos Automotive - Like going to a doctor when you get sick, auto repair is occasionally necessary to keep your car healthy and functional. Sometimes, a car's problems are difficult to detect, and can only be treated once the damage is done. Many other times, however, auto repair costs can be minimized by early detection of key indicators that may signify car trouble. While these examples are by no means complete, they do present a good start!

Does your engine whine or rumble when pumping the breaks at a stop sign? If so, this may be an early indication of brake pads beginning to wear down. While not initially a serious problem, this should be taken to an automotive repair shop sooner than later. Replacing brake pads is a relatively simple and inexpensive task. Wait too long, however, and it could result in lengthier, not to mention costlier, fixes! Just knowing you can come to a full and complete stop whenever necessary will probably make those morning commutes a little less stressful.

Sometimes while driving, people may notice the faint (or, unfortunately, strong) scent of burning oil. This is almost undoubtedly due to a leak somewhere under your vehicle, which is causing motor oil to sizzle against the hotter parts in the system. Most people don't wish to smell like hot petroleum every time they arrive at their destination, but they also probably don't want to pay for continual oil refills. Like brake pads, this is an easy problem to ignore, but the benefits of early auto repair are far more economical, safe, and altogether less smelly in the long run.

So, you're able to stop whenever you want to, and your car no longer trails smoke. But now, your ride feels springier, and it's beginning to give you a bit of a headache. Sounds like your shocks are wearing down. Kids bouncing around in the backseat may think the drive is a lot more fun, but your chassis is suffering for it. Shock systems often deteriorate after regular exposure to rough roads, or just general overuse. So, replacing them when necessary will smooth out those trips a whole lot more.

While these tips are for just a few of the more easily detectable and fixable problems, just being on the lookout for these indicators will save you stress and money. In general, if something feels off, it just might be! Regular auto repair shop visits will help keep you and your loved ones (including your car!) safe and sound as you drive through life.
